I don’t want to miss a day so I’m going to write about something I’ve had on heavy rotation lately- Smashing Pumpkins. I haven’t listened to them in years but I recently watched an interview with Billy Corgan about how he and the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and Chorus are performing the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness live in November. The first album I had by SP was Gish, but my favorite album is still Cherub Rock. Every song is so solid and I had a hard time choosing between the songs Quiet and Hummer for this entry. I got to see them in 1994 at SUNY Albany, but a trip to Chicago this fall to see the album live and reimagined would be a dream!
