Today’s track is a special one — not just a favorite, but a memory.
This song by The Mavericks will always hold a piece of my heart. It takes me back to the summertime drives with my brother and our grandma — back when she’d drop us off at our Aunt’s on her way to work. Same town, same route, same song.
We’d sing this one loud — especially the chorus — windows down if the weather was good, just belting it like no one was listening. It was silly, joyful, and effortless. Just us, the car, and her.
Now that she's gone, those moments mean everything. They sneak up on me when I hear this track — and yeah, sometimes it brings a tear. But mostly, it brings her back to me, even just for a few minutes.
I should have been true
I should have been blue
I shouldn't wonder why you're gone
I should have known that I was wrong
I miss her. And I’ll never forget that feeling — wind in our faces, voices cracking, all of us laughing. That’s what this song is.
