What's a song you only listen to when you're completely alone?

I had to ask myself what kind of song I'd be ashamed to listen to around someone. Then I asked what music by cancelled individuals I listen to. I immediately thought of Bean Dad. Here's the thing about Bean Dad: I don't really care about the bean story. I know Bean Dad enough to know that it was a bullshit made up story. As someone who posts jokes online, I don't believe everything. I don't take things at face value because in my own writing the joke is often just under the surface.

So, am I ashamed of Bean Dad for the bean story? No. It's a cute little fictitious story about a child obsessing over something and the parent not wanting to give them the attention. That said, I would never use my child for content. That's what my cat is for. I also know that backseat parents are easily set off by the littlest things. Though, my complicated feelings for Bean Dad come from the other stuff people dug up. Like transphobia and chaser stuff. The ironic racism. I also know I can't bring up Bean Dad without facing intense judgment about the bean incident that I find fucking annoying. Meanwhile these people probably listen to 30 Seconds to Mars, The Mountain Goats, Owl City, Katy Perry, or for fucks sake Drake. You know people who actually harmed women and children.

Despite all of that, I still have fond memories of hearing and seeing The Long Winters and John Roderick perform.
