Again, off prompt, but some folks have been posting late 90s/early 2000s emo and this song, though it came later, fits right there. I saw them in a basement club in State College, PA, about a decade ago. Great show; great song.

The build up in the beginning to the first lines.
Going off prompt, but I’m waiting for The Beaches newest album at the end of the month. This song’s a banger and the other singles released are great. Great vocals, great orchestration, and has breakdowns in all the right places.
What’s a hidden gem you wish more people knew about?
Hoo wee. I’m sure more people know about this than I think. Lady Lamb is phenomenal and this is the first song of hers I came across (I think) a few years ago. Dip your toe here and then dive into her albums immediately after, in particular, “Ripely Pine.”
This song has been in my queue over the last few months.
I saw Lamb of God live years ago with Boysetsfire (I think that was the same show) and it was a great, hot, brutal, punishing show.
This song seems apropos these days and it’s odd that I keep circling back to old songs that tie into my mood/feelings/whatever with the state of things.
Also, it’s just a really good song.
My first tattoo at 18 came from a lyric in this song and the album made me a lifelong fan of the band.
They’ve never wavered in their convictions and I always respect that.
I promise I didn’t intend two have my first to posts be Fontaines D.C. In fact, I actively tried to not do this. But here we are.
This song has been spinning today for me. It’s one of those songs that come along where I’ve been asking myself, “Did this band know how great and beautiful and wonderful this song was when they finished it?”
And I know bands usually don’t add a song to an album unless they’re happy with it. But, to me, this is one of those songs that is just … perfect. There’s not a note out of place, great lyrics, and a nostalgia feeling for the 80s post-punk/new wave era that will pierce my Gen X black heart every day.
I picked this song for my first post. It’s a great song, though maybe not my favorite of Fontaines D.C. (but also not not my favorite?).
I like the message of it and I feel like we could use it today.
