What was your favorite song in high school? Why did it resonate?
I’d say the Beastie Boys were probably my favorite group in high school and early college, with Check Your Head being a mainstay.
The album resonated with me in many ways. I loved that they went back to playing instruments again and they took that to a whole new level. I also loved that they epitomized the two things I loved at that point: punk and hip hop.
I did write a bit more about this album back in 2021 and what it meant to me at the time.
