What’s a lyric that resonates deeply with you and why?
Holy shit. I was just thinking about this before I even saw the prompt. Insane. Anyways, I've had many rough moments in the last few weeks. Though I will say, each day is getting slightly better, I just have been very on-guard about life and freaking out at every given moment about anything. Change has been a lot harder than I anticipated, I used to claim I was pretty good at adapting. I'm figuring it out though. A lyric that's been pushing me through and just helping me in reminding me what I'm doing is from Noah Kahan's "You're Gonna Go Far". This song in its entire glory makes me want to cry with how much it resonates with me. It also reminds me of how I can never play this song in the car with my parents because seeing my dad react to this song with the onset of my senior year and upcoming college journey while he was driving was something that emotionally broke me. Many lyrics in this song get me through, the honorable mentions:
- "This is good land, or at least it was. It takes a strong hand and a sound mind."
- "So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart. Say whatever you feel, be wherever you are."
- "Who the hell likes livin' just to die?"
But the winner that takes the cake is the final lyric. This one has been helping me push through so many bad days and moments in this last month;
"If you wanna go far, then you gotta go far."
