Pick a song from an artist or band that’s had the biggest impact on your life.
I used to think that music was frivolous and a waste of time (as a kid!), I think partly because most of the music I had listened to until then was positive, upbeat, or silly. Evanescence was the first group I listened to (first passively in my friend's dad's car, and later at the recommendation of another friend) that explored more than just this perceived happy side of life

I don't remember my parents outright saying that they disapproved of popular music of the time, but that's the implicit message I remember receiving. At some point, when I was in elementary school, I got a digital clock + CD player + radio device that also had a headphone jack. So sometimes before I slept at night, I would lie in bed, plug in my headphones, and listen to this 'forbidden' music on the radio. This is one of the songs I remember hearing and liking (although I had no idea what it meant at that time 😁)
