Think back to your childhood: What is your earliest music memory? Share that song and your story!

My first main music memory was dancing to "Footloose" with my neighbor friend. Looking that up, it was released in January 1984 so I was 8 years old. I would have guessed it was pre-school age or kindergarten, so that was kind of a shock.

Looking back at other songs around that time and earlier... one stood out: "Physical" by Olivia Newton John from 1982. That certainly was a favorite song of mine... with MTV starting in 1981, I can't say for certain I saw the video for the song in 1982, but it was one I definitely saw around that time.

It's kind of amazing to look back at old Billboard charts and recognize all songs. With the massive increase in bands, songs, genres, and distribution methods today, I don't think many people can say the same nowadays. Both ways have their benefits, but it's interesting to have lived through a time where media was more communal than diverse/broad.
