My tracks...
Ego Death (feat. Steve Vai)
Polyphia
A song from a genre you didn’t think you’d like—what changed?
I am not a prog rock fan, but hearing "Ego Death" for the first time stopped me cold. When I listen to it, my brain quiets for a brief bit of time. The rest of the album doesn't do the same for me; it's just this song.
Come Along

What’s the last song you discovered and loved instantly?
It happened right this second so I'm so glad this was today's prompt. What a happy weirdness of a song! I got chills. What a gift from ScrobbleRad.io.
You Are Invited
The Dismemberment Plan
What’s a lyric that resonates deeply with you and why?
I've already done Vienna Teng's "Level Up" so I'll have to choose something else.
I love all of the lyrics of "You Are Invited" by The Dismemberment Plan, but especially the chorus. I'm someone who struggles with feeling a part of things and has a hard time believing that people want me around. (I know. It's the worst self-talk I've got.)
But even better than wanting someone to say these words to me is the feeling I get when I think of saying these words to someone else, to make them feel that wanted and needed.
You are invited
By anyone to do anything
You are invited for all time
You are so needed
By everyone to do everything
You are invited for all time
Man, It's So Loud in Here
They Might Be Giants
If your life were a movie, what would its theme song be?
I don't know why this particular TMBG song popped into my head for this prompt, but I'm going with it. "Everyone's excited and confused."
Might Not Make It Home
LPX
How do you discover new music, and what’s the latest gem you’ve found?
Right now my new music discovery system is an unholy merging of Gorilla vs. Bear, ScrobbleRad.io, and @keenan.
"Might Not Make It Home" is currently on repeat, thanks to the third part of the unholy merging.

What is a song that feels like home to you?
This one I sing to myself when I need it most, especially this part:
And I'm not saying that the effort is a waste of time, but I
Just love you for the things you couldn't change though you tried
These hours of confusion they will soon expire like
Everything does
What’s the first song you’d play at a party?
If I wanted to get everyone (including myself) dancing, I'd play this one first.
A very special schmoopfest entry for today, because FunkyPlaid is coming home today! 🥰 Musically, this song lush and layered and I crawl inside it when I listen to it. The lyrics are unapologetic and melodramatic, just like I like 'em.
What’s your favorite love song, and why?
As a veritable schmoopfest walking around disguised as a meat-encrusted skeleton, I love love songs. But this is my very favorite. It reminds me of FunkyPlaid, of falling in love with him, and of our wedding, because this was our first dance, performed live by Rebecca and Ryan.

What’s a hidden gem or underrated song you love?
I remember the first time I heard this song. Everything was breaking apart in my relationship and I was on Muni (as I so often was) and this song was in my ears and I thought I might be able to survive it if I could listen to this song, just listen to this, keep listening, it's okay.
