With Christmas coming, I finally caved and ponied up the extra money for a family subscription to Apple Music so the four of us don't have to fight over who gets to stream what they want all the time. My children will be thrilled at this "gift for them", but Anna and I are both looking forward to having control of our very own music libraries again for the first time in quite a while.
I've decided to take the opportunity to start a totally new profile so I can do a bit of a critical review of a library that have become a bit swollen with records or songs, some added by myself and some by other family members that have no significance to me now, if they ever did. I'm like a musical Marie Kondo asking myself "Does this song spark joy?" over my library at the moment, which is a huge task for a massive library, but also a great opportunity to "rediscover" songs or artists I haven't listened to in quite a while because they've been lost in the bloat, over the next few days, I'll be posting some of those here.
First up, this is a two for one: Connor Oberst paying tribute to the late, great songwriter Vic Chesnutt whose song "Flirted With You All My Life" was almost instantly and even more tragically poignant by his death 3 months after it's release from an overdose of painkillers. Beautiful and heartbreaking.
