A song from college or early adulthood.

This record dropped my freshman year of college. It’s difficult to overstate how quickly it became the de facto template for everything I wanted to do musically. It was super melodic while understanding the power of dissonance. It was urgent and patient. It had a foot firmly planted in the post-hardcore scene it had grown in, but was every bit as ambitious as late-80’s/early 90’s U2. I spent the better part of the next 6 years using this as the measuring stick for all the music I wrote. For me, they never topped this, even though it would be the next record that made them superstars.
