My history with Converge goes all the way back to 1995 when a friend I met on the hardcore BBS during my freshman year of college sent me a tape with some new recordings from a local band she raved about named Converge. The songs, like “The Saddest Day” would go on to be on the Petitioning the Empty Sky record that would eventually come out in 1996. Converge would eventually make it to Buffalo a handful of times over the next few years, so I was able to see them live, which was absolutely amazing.
Fast forward like 30 years and I’m listening to their 11th full length record… and it’s one of their best. Certainly my favorite in the last decade, but maybe even all the way back to 2024’s You Fail Me.
Get sucked in by the insanely heavy riffs of “Bad Faith”, then give the rest of the record a chance. You won’t be disappointed.
